PLANET

A six-letter clue, solved step by step

Use a six letter word finder when a crossword entry has six spaces and a few known letters. Suppose L is in position 2, N is in position 4, and E and T must appear. Enter _ L _ N _ _ in the boxes and ET in Include letters. PLANET fits: P-L-A-N-E-T. PLANTS fails the E requirement, while PLENTY also matches. Read the crossword clue to decide between the candidates.

The finder handles spelling constraints, not the meaning of a crossword clue. Use the candidate list to narrow your thinking, then compare the clue's meaning and grammar. A plural clue typically needs a plural answer; a past-tense clue may need a past-tense verb. Open a word for its definition and letter breakdown before you commit.

Choose your next letter from the remaining words

The letter snapshot below the matches counts how many remaining candidates contain each letter, counting a repeated letter only once per word. It is calculated from your current result set, so it changes when you add a clue. This is a useful way to see which letters are shared across many possibilities.

These figures are dictionary coverage, not the probability of a game's hidden answer. If a puzzle uses a smaller answer list, its frequencies can differ substantially. The common-first sort is an editorial preference rather than a statistical promise. For tile games, you can sort by base English tile score; board bonuses and blank-tile values are not included.

Can a six letter word finder solve the meaning of a crossword clue?

No. It narrows spellings from the letters and positions you provide. Read the available definitions, then compare the clue's meaning, tense and singular or plural form. A spelling match can still be the wrong answer for that clue.

How do I handle a gray repeated letter?

Open More options, then Guess feedback. Enter the whole guess and mark each tile absent, present or correct before applying it. Exact feedback accounts for the number of repeated letters.

How do I keep LETTER but exclude words with only one T?

Set T to Exactly 2 under More options → Letter counts. LETTER has two Ts and fits that rule. If you also know a T's position, fill its box; the fixed T counts toward the same total. Do not put T in Exclude letters, which would remove every T.

When should I use a rack instead of position clues?

Use a rack when your tiles are the complete available supply, such as LISTEN. Position clues are better when unknown letters are unrestricted. Both controls can work together, but a fixed letter still has to be available in the rack or supplied by a blank.
