Your search

Filtering runs locally in your browser after the dictionary loads. We do not send your letters, patterns or guess history to a search service. Clues are stored in the fragment of the current URL (the part after #), which is not included in ordinary HTTP requests. Anyone you share that link with can read and restore those clues.

Saved words and appearance

Saved words and your light/dark preference are stored in localStorage on this browser. They are not synchronized with an account or another device. You can remove saved words in the Saved words panel, or clear this site’s browser data to erase the collection and preferences. If storage is unavailable, the collection lasts only for the current visit.

Definitions and external links

Word lists, font files and definition files are served as static assets by the site host. Opening a word may request a definition file containing that word’s two-letter prefix; the host may record normal request logs. Following the modern-dictionary link takes you to an independent website with its own privacy policy.

Clipboard

The site writes to your clipboard only when you select a copy or share action. It never reads your clipboard. If your browser denies the write request, the site shows the text so you can copy it manually.

Analytics and advertising

This build has no analytics token configured and does not load an analytics script. No advertising scripts are included in this version. The hosting provider may retain standard access logs for delivery and security.
