To find 5 letter words using these letters in any order, require each letter without fixing its position. Enter A, R and E and you can find CRANE, GRAPE, RAISE, STARE and TRACE. Each is five letters long and contains all three requested letters; the remaining positions may contain other letters.
Changing ARE to EAR does not change the matches. Repeating a letter does matter: AAR asks for at least two A letters and one R. If you only have five physical tiles and must use exactly those tiles, choose the Letter rack option. That stricter mode will reject any candidate that needs a tile you do not have.
When the position matters
An any-order search is useful when a clue tells you which letters appear but does not reveal where. An exact-position search is different: _ R _ _ E fixes R second and E last. CRANE satisfies both the ARE inclusion rule and this pattern, while RAISE satisfies the inclusion rule but fails the position rule.
Use the main five-letter finder when you need exact positions, excluded letters or a full guess-feedback history. This page is arranged for reading answers: each row pairs a word with a short meaning where our sources provide one. Meanings can help distinguish candidates in a crossword, although a word's grammatical form and the wording of the clue still matter.
Same letters, different rules
Compare these two searches for 5 letter words using these letters: including ARE allows CRANE and STARE because other letters may fill the gaps. A rack of CRANE allows CRANE and NACRE, but not STARE: your tiles have no S or T. The two example buttons above apply these different rules so you can compare the actual results.
Repeated tiles are separate resources. APPLE needs two Ps, so APLE is one tile short. APPLE or APLE? can supply the word; the question mark stands for the missing P. In included-letter mode, PP only requires at least two Ps and leaves the other three letters open. To require exactly two copies, use Letter counts in the position finder.
Read the answer, check the fit
Results are candidate words, not a spoiler feed for today's puzzle. The full dictionary is broader than most games' answer lists. The everyday filter narrows it to a manually selected collection, but it still is not an official answer list. Read the definition, verify the spelling and check whether your game accepts that word.
Short definitions come from an editorial set and a historical Webster dictionary. Older entries may use dated terminology or omit modern meanings. Inflections and newer words sometimes have no local definition; those rows say so rather than inventing a meaning. Open a row for the source and a modern-dictionary lookup, or copy the current results for later use.

Does this page give today's game answer?
No. It shows dictionary words matching your letters, with short definitions when available. There is no daily answer feed.
Can I search the same letters in a different order?
Yes. In included-letter mode, ARE and EAR return the same candidates. In letter-rack mode, the order is also ignored but the available count of each tile is enforced.
Why does a matching word have no definition?
The word list is larger than the definition collection. Some inflections, uncommon terms and newer words have no local meaning; historical entries may also omit a modern sense. Open the row to see its source and an external dictionary lookup. A missing definition does not prove that the spelling is invalid.
How do I choose between CRANE and RAISE when both contain A, R and E?
Compare the meanings with your clue first. If you also know that R is second and E is last, use the position finder with _ R _ _ E: CRANE fits but RAISE does not. Neither candidate is guaranteed to be today's answer; the list only reflects the constraints you supply.
